Post office issues

Published: Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

To the Editor:

I recently posted a letter from Algonquin to Des Plaines. It took 14 days to get to Des Plaines. Last Christmas, I posted several Christmas cards to Ireland and England on Dec. 10. The cards did not get to either location until after Christmas.

Two years ago there was a post office strike in England because of the postal privatization. People around Des Plaines are complaining it takes 14 days to receive a letter posted in Des Plaines. In a recent year, the post office here spent $2 billion building new post offices. Now they are talking about shutting post offices down and laying off people.

They keep on raising the stamp prices encouraging people to get a computer. The post office needs to be investigated to see what’s holding up the mail.
