WOODSTOCK – A fire at a Woodstock apartment building has been deemed “suspicious,” according to the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.

Crews were called to a home in the 1200 block of Thomas Drive around 5 p.m. Sunday for a report of a structure fire, officials said. Firefighters found flames in a second-floor bedroom of a duplex in that area.

A neighbor who called 911 told dispatchers that three children were inside the building at the time of the fire, Woodstock Fire Rescue Capt. Brendan Parker said. Crews searched the home, which was found vacant with no one living there.

The fire spread to the attic, but it was under control in about 10 minutes, Parker said. No one was injured.

Crews from several area fire departments assisted with the incident.
