3 Illinois residents hit with fraud charges
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Justice Department has charged three people for their roles in an alleged Illinois health care fraud scheme.
The indictment unsealed Tuesday alleges the three participated in a scheme operating out of a home visiting physician practice, Medicall Physicians Group Ltd., located in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg.
Prosecutors claim Medicare paid Medicall $4.7 million between January 2007 and December 2011.
Rick E. Brown of Rockford, Roger A. Lucero of Elmhurst and Mary C. Talaga of Elmwood Park are charged with conspiracy and health care fraud.
The Rockford Register Star reports only Brown was arrested Tuesday and released on $10,000 bond. Brown and Talaga have unlisted telephone numbers and couldn't be reached for comment. A woman answering a phone listing for Lucero said he was unavailable for comment.
