ALGONQUIN – Parks and Forestry Superintendent Steve Ludwig was named president-elect of the Illinois Arborist Association Executive Committee at the association’s annual conference on Oct. 22.

Ludwig previously served on the Illinois Arborist Association Executive Committee as vice president.

“Steve’s progressing leadership with the Illinois Arborist Association, as well as the village for over 15 years, demonstrates the professionalism of our Parks and Forestry staff that services our community,” Village President John Schmitt said in a news release.

Village employees have been invited to speak to other jurisdictions statewide, including the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, to discuss the village’s strategies in battling the emerald ash borer infestation.

Ludwig has worked for the village since 1995 and oversees the Parks and Forestry Division of the Public Works Department.

The Illinois Arborist Association is a nonprofit organization that educates its members in proper tree care, supports research on trees and promotes professionalism in the arboriculture industry.
