To the Editor:

Thank you for putting the issue of transportation for the elderly on your front page.

You missed one very important resource, however. Senior Services Associates has been serving McHenry County seniors for 26 years, assisting people 60 and over remain independent, safe and healthy.

Senior Services is the go-to agency for any senior issue, helping over 9,500 seniors last year. One of our longest-standing programs is door-to-door transportation for doctor visits, groceries, pharmacies and other necessary errands. Our fine volunteers are ready every day to help seniors get to the places that keep their quality of life intact.

Our volunteers aren’t just a ride. They are a friend and a connection to other social services that seniors might need. Please add Senior Services to your list of agencies that will help a senior with a free ride. They can call 815-344-3555 for help.

If you know anyone who would like to volunteer for this rewarding project, please have them call this number as well. There’s a background check, of course, but the need is great and the appreciation is, too.
