Group's lawsuit seeks to void health care law
MILWAUKEE (AP) — A conservative group has filed a federal lawsuit in Milwaukee seeking to have the health care law declared unconstitutional.
The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons said Wednesday that the government postponed the so-called employer mandate without necessary congressional approval.
Employers with at least 50 workers will have to offer affordable coverage, or face fines. That provision was supposed to go into effect next year, but the White House put it off until 2015.
The plaintiff says the move violated an aspect of the law that said the employer mandate was to go into effect at the same time as a mandate requiring individuals to carry health insurance or pay fines.
The lawsuit names an IRS official as a defendant. The White House and IRS did not immediately return messages.
