Former Aurora man convicted of strangling wife

AURORA, Ill. (AP) — Kane County jurors have convicted a former Aurora man of murdering his wife 23 years ago.

Aurelio Montano was convicted late Wednesday of first-degree murder in the 1990 strangulation death of 35-year-old Guadalupe Montano. The 58-year-old Montano is already serving a life sentence for two 1996 murders.

Prosecutors say Montano strangled his wife because he thought she had been unfaithful. They say he rolled up her body in a carpet and buried it. He then moved her body and it has never been found. Eighteen years later investigators found the carpet after excavating a site in Naperville.
