HUNTLEY – Route 47 from Interstate 90 to Big Timber Road reopened Sunday morning after a three-vehicle accident about 6 p.m. Saturday ruptured a gas tank, spilling about 100 gallons of diesel fuel onto Route 47, the Kane County Sheriff's Office said.

Two cars and a semitrailer were southbound on Route 47 south of Interstate 90 near Huntley when one of the cars made a U-turn, causing the truck to swerve, according to a news release. The semitrailer went into the ditch on the east side of the road and then back across the road, stopping on the west shoulder.

The fuel tank on the semitrailer ruptured, leaking about 100 gallons of diesel onto the road and into the ditch, the release said.

Route 47 from Interstate 90 to Big Timber Road was closed overnight Saturday for the cleanup.

No one was injured in the accident.
