WOODSTOCK – A fire on Sunday in an apartment that is under renovation left about $10,000 in damage, the Woodstock Fire Rescue District said.

At 10:01 a.m. firefighters returning from an ambulance call noticed smoke coming from an apartment at 235 N. Benton St. The apartment, which is above the Crossroads Smoke Shop, had construction debris on the inside from ongoing renovations, said Capt. Scott Nieman.

The small fire was under control in about five minutes, Nieman said.

No one was hurt and no one was inside the apartment when the fire was reported, Nieman said.

Firefighters were on scene until noon. The fire is still under investigation.
