A man who rolled an ATV on Sunday and was flown to an area hospital was driving under the influence at the time of the crash, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy P. Ritchie, 40, of McHenry, has been charged with driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, operating an ATV on the roadway and careless operation of an ATV.

Ritchie, who was not wearing a helmet, overturned the ATV, which landed on top of him, near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Kerry Lane, the sheriff’s office said.

He was knocked unconscious and taken via Flight for Life to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Ritchie’s bond was set at $3,000.
