SPRING GROVE – Wichita, Kan.-based Universal Lubricants agreed Monday to sell four RS Used Oil Services locations, including one in Spring Grove, to Elgin-based Heritage-Crystal Clean LLC.

RS Used Oil Services is a subsidiary of Universal Lubricants. The operations – located in Monee, Spring Grove, Carmel, Ind., and Middletown, Ohio – provide used oil collection and wastewater and solid waste removal services, according to a news release.

Universal Lubricants will keep its presence in these areas for new oil and lubricant sales and to manage large national accounts, the company said. It also continues to provide used oil collection and environmental services through both Universal Lubricants and RS Used Oil Services across the Midwest and southern U.S.

Universal Lubricants’ CEO Jan Horsfall said the company decided to sell the RS Used Oil assets after a review of all 36 of its U.S. facilities.

Elgin-based Heritage-Crystal Clean, which has an oil re-refinery in Indianapolis, Ind., and is a provider of parts cleaning and waste services, plans to retain RS Used Oil Services employees, according to the news release.

Heritage-Crystal Clean Inc. operates through 74 branches serving more than 93,000 customer locations.
