Downtown businesses to support Salvation Army

CRYSTAL LAKE – Downtown Crystal Lake, a nonprofit group that represents downtown merchants, will be hosting its “Gingerbread for The Salvation Army” fundraiser again this year.

Last year, the organization raised $3,200 for the Salvation Army of McHenry County.

Participating businesses create their own gingerbread creations to display near a countertop Salvation Army red kettle. The creations will be on display starting Nov. 29. The public will be invited to view the creations.

Every dollar deposited in the corresponding red kettle is worth one vote. The business that collects the most money through Dec. 24 will win the contest.

For information, visit the association’s website, www.downtowncl.org, or call 815-479-0835.
