Boy, 6, wounded in Chicago shootings that killed 1

CHICAGO — An outburst of gunfire in two South Side Chicago neighborhoods left one person dead and four others wounded, including a six-year-old who was a passenger in a car.

Chicago Police spokesman Dan O'Brien says shots rang out Wednesday when a driver began quarreling with two men in the city's Gage Park neighborhood. The boy was hit in the shoulder and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

WLS-TV reports the boy and his two brothers were on their way to visit a tutor when the shooting occurred around 5:40 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the city's Auburn Gresham neighborhood, a 28-year-old man died and three others were wounded when two gunmen opened fire on their vehicle.

Police say no one was custody for either shooting.
