Crystal Lake Central grad Jauch claims gold medal at world championships
SOFIA, Bulgaria – Erin Jauch, a 2012 Crystal Lake Central graduate, was part of the first USA Gymnastics double-mini trampoline and tumbling team since 1996 to claim a gold medal at the world championships.
The U.S. finished the championships with a team score of 104.4 points, edging out Canada (102.2) and Russia (101.6) for the gold medal.
Jauch, part of the U.S. double mini-trampoline team, started off the Americans' effort by scoring a 36.00 on her routine, according to reports, which said Jauch stuck her piked barani out to a full-full.
Jauch trains at Fox Valley Tumbling in Johnsburg.
Alyssa Long, a junior at McHenry, is also at the world championships competing on the U.S. junior national team.
