Four Woodstock businesses sold tobacco to minors
WOODSTOCK – Employees at four Woodstock businesses sold tobacco to a minor during a compliance check last week, police said.
A citywide compliance check of 27 tobacco retailers found four businesses in violation: Cigarette City, 730 S. Eastwood Drive; Gas Cap Fuels, 401 S. Eastwood Drive; Crossroads, 235 N. Benton St.; and Kelly’s Market Woodstock Mobil, 1144 Seminary Ave.
The employees who sold the tobacco were issued municipal code violations and ordered to attend a “must appear” administrative hearing Dec. 12 at Woodstock City Hall.
Compliance checks are performed by the Woodstock Police Department with help from the McHenry County Department of Health.
