HUNTLEY – A 27-year-old Huntley man had police officers searching for him for two-and-a-half hours after he fled from a car accident, Huntley Police said.

Scott Hitchcock, was involved in a hit-and-run accident at Route 47 and Interstate 90 about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, said Sgt. Scott Sullivan. He fled the scene and drove into a tree on Powers Road.

Hitchcock was injured when he drove into a tree, but fled on foot. The Huntley Fire Protection District brought an engine to Powers Road and put its ladder up to shine light over the surrounding neighborhood, Sullivan said.

About 8 p.m. Hitchcock was eventually apprehended, Sullivan said. He was taken to Sherman Hospital with nonlife threatening injuries, Sullivan added.

Hitchcock was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident and obstructing a peace officer investigation. A driving under the influence charge is pending, Sullivan said.

Lake in the Hills, Marengo, and Gilberts Police and the Kane County Sheriff’s office assisted in the search.
