A Hampshire man fired a gun into the air several times during a verbal altercation outside of a bar, the Kane County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
James Staples, 38, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm after an incident Saturday morning at the Old Starks Tavern, the news release said.
About 1 a.m., deputies went to the bar for a report of gunshots being fired. There was an verbal altercation between two men in the parking lot. Staples then got into his car and fired several shots into the air, the sheriff's office said. He then fled the scene.
No one was hit during the incident.
Staples was located about 90 minutes later in Elgin, along with a 9 mm handgun, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the sheriff's office said.
He also was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, between 2.5 and 10 grams.
Staples had his bond set at $50,000.
