CRYSTAL LAKE – College students who want to get a jump-start on spring semester may enroll in McHenry County College’s Winter Session classes from Dec. 16 through Jan. 8.
The program features a four-week intensive study term between fall and spring semesters that allows students to earn academic credits by taking a course needed to complete a degree. This program may appeal to students who want to catch up by retaking a course or lighten up a spring semester course load and concentrate on just one subject.
Although some classes will be in the traditional lecture format, other classes are offered online or in a blended (a mix of face-to-face and online) format.
The program is not recommended for students with low grade-point averages or significant competing time commitments during the winter session term.
The following winter session courses are accepting registration: Humanities Through the Arts (ART 150-001) online; Introduction to Human Biology (BIO 110-010) main campus; Computer Literacy (CIS 110-034 & 035) online; Internet Technologies (CIS 145-002) online; Composition I (ENG 151-031) online; Composition II (ENG 152-047) online; U.S. History II (HIS 172-006) main campus; Introduction to Film (JRN 180-008) main campus; Principles of Marketing (MKT 110-008) main campus; U.S. Government (PLT 151-009) main campus; and Introduction to Speech (SPE 151-030) main campus.
