Published: Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 12:02 a.m. CST

ELGIN – Stella!, a four-piece, all-women American roots band from southeast Michigan, will perform at Elgin Community College on Nov. 23.

The performance will be at 7 p.m. in the SecondSpace Theatre in the Building H Arts Center on the Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive.

The band was first conceived by singer-songwriter Jo Serrapere after a conversation with American music critic and Creem magazine co-founder Dave Marsh.

Serrapere was inspired to put together a new group to showcase country-roots songwriting.

The band includes Serrapere and three like-minded, spirited musician/songwriters: Jen Sygit, Diana Ladio and Laura Ann Bates.

Tickets to the performance are $25.

A preshow dinner prepared by ECC’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality program and served in ECC’s Spartan Terrace Restaurant can be bought for an additional $29.

Dinners must be bought before Monday.

Tickets are available online at tickets.elgin.edu, by phone at 847-622-0300 or at the ECC Arts Center box office in Building H on ECC’s campus.

Box office hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
