Filing period for March primary approaches
The four-day window that local candidates have to file their petitions for the March 18 primary opens at the end of the month.
Candidates filing for county-level offices can do so Nov. 25, 26 and 27 and Dec. 2 at the County Clerk’s Office, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock. The office will be closed Nov. 28 and 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and until 5 p.m. on the final day, Dec. 2.
County offices up for election next year include county clerk, treasurer, sheriff and regional school superintendent and half of the County Board’s 24 seats. Voters in March also will elect their precinct committeemen.
County voters next year will elect all Illinois statewide constitutional offices, all seats in the Illinois House and U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate seat now held by Democratic incumbent Dick Durbin. Voters in the new 33rd Illinois Senate District will get to elect to the seat now held by Republican freshman Karen McConnaughay.
