RINGWOOD – A Johnsburg High School teacher diagnosed with cancer is the beneficiary of a 5K event planned for Saturday.

Cheryl Trione, who has been with District 12’s Johnsburg High School for 27 years, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in February. Proceeds from the event will go toward medical expenses and to help alleviate any financial troubles related to her treatment.

The 5K walk/run will start at 9 a.m. with a Kids One-Mile Fun Run to follow at 10 a.m. at Ringwood School Primary Center, 4700 N. School Road.

Registration is available at itsracetime.com or between 8 and 8:45 a.m. the day of the race. The cost is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the fun run. For information, contact Raven Davis at rdavis@johnsburg12.org.
