Centegra plans annual candlelight service Dec. 9

McHENRY – Children who have died from conception to shortly after live birth will be memorialized during Centegra Health System’s annual candlelight service at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Church of the Holy Apostles, 5211 Bull Valley Road.

The service is designed for people of all faiths, including those who do not have a formal religious affiliation.

Table space will be available for parents who would like to share memories of their child. A child’s name also may be printed in the memorial bulletin for the service. Email the parent names and name of the child, as it should appear, to rwakitsch@centegra.com no later than Dec. 5. A reception with light refreshments will follow the service.

The perinatal bereavement and loss team at Centegra provides care and support for parents and families facing the heartbreaking loss of a child during pregnancy or shortly after birth.

Specially trained and nationally certified perinatal bereavement counselors are available to assist families at this difficult time, providing support, options and compassionate care.

After discharge from the hospital, this support remains available at no charge by calling the Centegra Perinatal Grief Support Line at 815-759-4348.
