Program reduces library fines while feeding the hungry
ALGONQUIN – The highly anticipated Food for Fines program returns to Algonquin Area Public Library beginning Monday and running through Dec. 8.
As in years past, the library will clear patron fines for overdue materials if the return is accompanied with a unexpired, nonperishable food donation. Accumulated donations will be delivered by Hearts of Gold, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting Algonquin and Lake in the Hills families in need of assistance.
Only fines associated with materials belonging to the Algonquin Area Public Library will be removed. Patrons with materials from other libraries remain liable for any unsettled fines.
The Food for Fines program takes place at the main library, 2600 Harnish Drive, and the Eastgate Branch, 115 Eastgate Drive.
