FOX RIVER GROVE –A fundraiser is scheduled at the Norge Ski Club on Saturday to help a local ski jumper make it to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

Money raised from the event will help toward the expenses of having Mike Glasder, 24, of Cary, compete in qualifying events around the world. If he performs well enough, Glasder could secure a spot on the U.S. Ski Jump team.

His next event is in Oslo, Norway.

Over the years, Glasder's family has had to pay for overseas flights, equipment, entry fees, lodging and food for Glasder to compete, said Kathy Glasder, Mike's mother.

"We're looking forward to having friends and family at Norge," Kathy Glasder said. "We're eternally grateful [for] everyone's support."

The fundraiser is from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Norge Ski Club House at 100 Ski Hill Road.

The cost is $30 and includes dinner and beer sampling. There also will be a cash bar.
