Help feed hungry

Published: Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

Because of the generosity of many people in our community, the 2013 CROP Walk on Sept. 29 raised more than $17,000 to help hungry people. Three-fourths of the money is going to programs aiding the poor overseas, and one-fourth is being donated to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.

I want to thank the 170 walkers on nine teams representing Bethany Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake Force U17 Elite girls soccer team, First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake, First United Methodist Church, Fox River Grove Methodist Church, Hope Covenant Church, Living Waters Lutheran Church, Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, and St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Thanks also to our corporate sponsors: the AptarGroup, Colonial Cafe and ThriventFinancial. And, finally, thank you to the members of this year's host church, Living Waters, for providing a warm welcome with delicious snacks and great music.

Chairman, 2013 CROP Walk, Crystal Lake
