The owner of a massage parlor in an unincorporated area of McHenry County near Crystal Lake has again been charged with prostitution, less than a month after being arrested for the same offense, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Shufang Lu, 49, of Chicago, was arrested Tuesday and charged with prostitution, unlawful practice of massage therapy and violation of a bail bond following a second undercover operation at her business, Spring Spa, at 5610 S. Route 31.

After her first arrest for prostitution and unlawful practice of massage therapy in late October, members of the sheriff’s office received additional complaints from residents about suspicious activity taking place at the business, according to a news release. During both undercover operations, Lu agreed to perform sexual acts for money.

Investigators learned after the first arrest that Lu did not have a license to practice massage therapy and that Spring Spa did not have a valid business license.

A second woman, Jing Hua, 50, was charged with unlawful practice of massage therapy after the second incident.

Both have since been released from the McHenry County Jail after posting bond.
