Dawson a Good Samaritan

To the Editor:

I am writing to recognize the honesty of Crystal Lake City Councilman Ralph Dawson.

Recently, I spent the morning running numerous errands around the community. One of the stops included the Crystal Lake post office. Having taken my wallet out of my pocket to purchase stamps, I laid it on the lobby counter as I put a stamp on a letter and mailed it. Once I returned home, I realized that the wallet was not in my pocket.

Knowing that I had last had it at the post office, I quickly called and was assured that the wallet was there. During the 10-minute drive back to the post office, I convinced myself that I should be happy to get the wallet back, but likely would be without the cash and credit cards it contained.

Once I got back to the post office, I was informed that Dawson had found the wallet. I was elated that I had my wallet back – with its contents – but was even happier to learn such an honest citizen is serving our community.

After I called Dawson and thanked him, I was even more impressed by his modesty.

Thank you, Ralph Dawson.
