ALGONQUIN – Jacobs High School’s music program was one of 123 in the nation recently named as a semifinalist for the GRAMMY Foundation’s signature schools program.
The program recognizes the top high schools in the country for their commitment to music education. Program finalists receive a grant worth between $1,000 to $15,000 and a custom award. Officials from Carpentersville-based District 300 will now submit recordings and repertoire lists, as Jacobs competes for a finalist spot. The foundation will announce the finalists in March.
More than 20,000 schools in the nation are asked to apply to the signature schools program. The foundation provides programs and services to educate the public about the importance of recorded music to American culture.
