ALGONQUIN – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded the village a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2013-14 fiscal year budget, according to a news release.

This is the tenth year in a row the village has received the recognition, the news release said.

“Village staff has once again done a tremendous job in not only putting together a balanced budget, but one that is easily understandable for our residents” said Village President John Schmitt.

Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four scoring categories, and the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.  Approximately 1,300 entities nationwide received the award.
