Harvard Chamber getting ready for big 2014

Published: Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

The board of directors and staff have been busy this month reviewing this past year and planning for the next.

In the upcoming year, the Harvard Chamber will continue some successful benefits, such as multimember business after-hours mixers, Biz-E-Buzz (eblast service), website updates, scholarship programs, business trading shows, golf outing, community guide, greeter service, Kelly Miller Circus social media marketing, Tri-County Pro Rodeo and educational seminars. We are constantly researching new programs that help promote the healthy business growth of our members.

The Harvard Chamber will be introducing our 2014 Board of Directors next month. This year, we will be filling two new positions with two-year terms.

Our current executive board consists of Past President Barb Rowe (Dick’s Repair), President Mic Woods (Walmart) Vice President Raul Meza (Castle Bank) and Treasurer Vicki Schulz (Twin Garden Farms). The Board of Directors is Jeffery Parks (Harvard State Bank), Martin Figueroa (Harvard Chevy-Buick), Mark Hathaway (Anytime Fitness), Kim McFarlin (Harvard Savings Bank), Rolando Cruz (Woodforest National Bank), Amy Beestra (Stahl Insurance), Laurie Tobias (School District 50 board) and Mayor Jay Nolan. We encourage all businesses to donate some time to the Board of Directors to share thoughts and ideas to help with our growth and programs to all businesses.

Join us Feb. 1 as we invite everyone to a Winter Wonderland Luau dinner and silent auction at Starline Factory. Silent auction and cocktails start at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Music to follow. We will be honoring our outstanding business and many of our members’ achievements, as well as our community volunteer of the year. Don’t miss this night of fun, music, dancing and great items to bid on, and meet your new board of directors. Thanks to the silent auction items that were donated from the businesses.

Harvard Chamber welcomes its newest member, Layla Ghajarieh (Scentsy), and renewed members McHenry County Sheriff and Mercy Harvard Business Center.
