McHENRY – A Minnesota company has purchased the 104-unit McHenry Villa retirement community in McHenry.
Health Dimensions Group, a Minneapolis-based management and consulting firm, said Wednesday a purchase agreement had been signed for McHenry Villa. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
On Jan. 1, McHenry Villa operations will transition to McHenry Villa LLC, with Health Dimensions Group providing management services.
The McHenry Villa retirement community is off Green Street at 3516 W. Waukegan Road. It has 104 private apartments for retirement-age adults. It includes studios, and one- and two-bedroom suites. Its communal areas include a game room, library and an outdoor patio and gardens along an arm of the Fox River. McHenry Villa provides meal service and weekly housekeeping and linen services. Monthly rates start at $1,360, according to its webstie.
Longtime owner and director Maureen Annamaree plans to retire in late February, according to a news release from Health Dimensions Group. Annamaree had owned McHenry Villa for more than two decades. She could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
The rest of the employees will remain at the facility, said Vicki Grant, Health Dimensions Group's vice president of operations for Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.
"We're very excited about this," she said. "We were looking at any opportunity to expand our portfolio, and this was a perfect opportunity. The location is great."
Health Dimensions Group CEO Craig Abbott said the change in ownership "will ensure McHenry Villa remains a successful and progressive health care provider," according to the release.
“We look forward to joining the community and are indebted to the leadership and commitment of Maureen, who has served as owner and director for so many years," Abbott said in a statement. "We are particularly pleased she will be assisting us with the transition and training of a new leader to carry on her important legacy.”
Health Dimensions Group will host resident and family meetings in the coming months to meet the residents and their families and provide information on the new ownership and management.
Grant said the transition should be "seamless" for McHenry Villa residents.
"We don't anticipate any immediate changes," she said.
Health Dimensions Group plans to make some capital improvements at the the facility, including new carpeting, paint and furniture, Grant said.
