Ali Frantti, Richmond-Burton sr. OH

The Northwest Herald Player of the Year finished her fourth varsity campaign with 603 kills, 40 blocks, 270 digs and 99 aces. After being named the No. 2 player in the nation, Frantti led R-B to its second straight Big Northern Conference East Division title, which the Rockets shared with Burlington Central, and was a Big Northern Conference All-Conference selection. Frantti also earned 2013-14 Under Armour First Team All-America honors. She is graduating early to start her collegiate career at volleyball powerhouse Penn State, where she committed as a junior.

Kassie Kasper, Jacobs jr. L

Kasper played for two in Jacobs’ back row this year, making her impossible for opponents to overlook. Kasper finished the season with a 2.20 passer rating and 321 digs. She added 52 aces and 45 assists. Kasper was a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division All-Conference selection and committed to North Carolina State earlier this month.

Lauren Leverenz, Crystal Lake Central sr. MH

In her fourth season on Central’s varsity team, Leverenz helped lead the Tigers to their seventh Fox Valley Conference Fox Division title in eight years and is sixth outright title over the same period. Leverenz notched 83 blocks to go with 217 kills, 135 digs, 38 aces and 29 assists. Leverenz was a FVC Fox Division All-Conference selection and is committed to St. Louis University.

Carly Nolan, Crystal Lake South jr. OH

Nolan played a significant role in the Gators’ run to the IHSA Class 4A state finals, where South finished fourth. She helped the Gators win the FVC Valley Division title and regional, section and supersectional championships. Her 385 kills were a team best, thanks in part to Nolan’s knack for taking over matches in the clutch. Nolan added 266 digs, 45 blocks and 52 aces. She was a FVC Valley Division All-Conference selection and has committed to University of Cincinnati.

Cassy Sivesind, Crystal Lake South jr. S

Sivesind had plenty of weapons to utilize this year, and she did so strategically. Sivesind spread the ball so well that opponents couldn’t key in on any one player, particularly in the postseason. Sivesind finished with 869 assists, 30 blocks, 24 aces and 108 digs. She helped South win the FVC Valley Division title as well as regional, sectional and supersectional crowns before finishing fourth in the Class 4A state finals. Sivesind was a FVC Valley Division All-Conference selection.

Nicole Slimko, Crystal Lake South sr. MH

Slimko joined Leverenz as being one of the area’s most feared middles. Slimko thrived in postseason pressure situations and provided the extra boost the Gators needed to close out matches. Slimko finished the year with 241 kills, 98 blocks, 116 digs and 44 aces. She helped South win a FVC Valley Division title, regional, sectional and supersectional crowns, and finish fourth at the Class 4A state finals. Slimko was a FVC Valley Division All-Conference selection and is committed to Bowling Green State University.

Frankie Taylor, Marian Central sr. OH

The Hurricanes’ season was a question mark Taylor helped change to an exclamation point. Her play at the pins helped spark Marian Central’s midseason turnaround and propel the ‘Canes to Class 3A regional and sectional crowns. Taylor also helped Marian notch a signature win over Class 4A third-place finisher New Trier during a late-season tournament. Taylor finished her senior year with 294 kills, 331 digs and 45 aces. She was a Suburban Christian Conference All-Conference selection.
