BLOOMINGTON — An autopsy shows a 72-year-old central Illinois woman likely died from cold exposure.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports an autopsy was performed on Marlene A. Brewer on Monday.

The woman's body was found Sunday in a drainage ditch near her home in rural Bloomington.

McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling says in a statement that authorities aren't sure whether the woman became disoriented or "intentionally wandered away" from her home.

Investigators didn't say how long she had been outside.

The National Weather Service says the air temperatures in the area on Sunday dropped into the upper 20s.
