Disparity of opinion

Published: Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

To the Editor:

In the letter “Count me as a radical,” published in the Northwest Herald on Nov. 23, Mr. John Smith of McHenry wrote: “Tea partiers are your most patriotic Americans.” This implies that those who may not agree with Mr. Smith are, depending upon the extent of the disparity of opinion, at least less patriotic than Mr. Smith or even unpatriotic.

Unfortunately, Mr. Smith is confusing arrogance with patriotism.
