McHENRY – Downtown parking pass holders now can purchase passes annually instead of quarterly, the City Council decided Monday evening.
The cost for the passes will remain $60 a year.
The change was made at the request of pass holders who are predominately downtown residents, business owners and employees who use the lots on Main Street, Court Street, Green Street and Riverside Drive, according to city documents.
For those who purchase a pass after July 1, the cost will be prorated to $30. It will not be prorated any further, which is how the city handles vehicle stickers.
The goal is to make the process less cumbersome for pass holders and make it more streamlined for city staff, the documents said.
