USPS’ poor service

This is in response to Scott Dikun (“Excellent service,” Aug. 12).

The post office continues to give lousy service – not only Harvard, but the post office in general.

I was supposed to receive a large retirement check mailed from New Jersey on Sept. 15 and still have not seen the check. The bank stopped payment on it and sent a replacementcheck via UPS.

My wife ordered drapes from a company in New York with a USPS tracking number, mind you, and twice the post office returned the package to the company from the Palatine sorting facility. We ended up getting my money back.

Ordered drapes sent via Fed-Ex and received them in two days.

I sent a request to Milwaukee via certified mail, and it took 10 days. The post office charged me $2.41 for a returned signature card. Seriously.

Yes, I do most of my banking and bill-paying online. You just have to use common sense and secure websites to do this. I have been paying online for several years and yet have been scammed.

So, Scott, you can say what you want to say about the post office, but, on occasion, I see negatives about the post office in the letters to the editor. I will not use the post office unless absolutely necessary.
