Why work?

To the Editor:

Obamacare is another good reason not to be employed. In reply to Jim Cosgrove’s excellent letter in the Nov. 19 Northwest Herald, why work if you can make more by not working. If you can earn $50,000 per year and get $10,000 to $12,000 in medical insurance paid, why try to earn $55,000 and get no help.

A must read was in Time magazine on March 4, 2013. This article explained how the hospital can buy 1,000 cotton balls for $7 and bill the patient $28,000.

The only plan that will work is one where you build up a medical savings account through your work or welfare check and you can pay reasonable insurance out of that. People go to the doctor/hospital and don’t care what it costs can pay.

The government would take over excessive bills, say over $100,000. Money not used would be yours, tax free, at, say, 65 years.

Along with tort reform, a set amount for doctor errors would help to lower the doctor cost.
