Girls roundup: Huntley edges Barrington, stays perfect

The Huntley girls basketball team stayed undefeated with a 50-48 nonconference win over visiting Barrington on Saturday.

Sam Andrews led the Red Raiders (9-0) with 19 points, and Ali Andrews added 17.

Aurora Christian 48, Marian Central 37: At Woodstock, Hannah Davis and Sarah Benigni each scored eight points to lead Marian in the loss. Ellen Koscielniak scored six and McKenzie Lindquist added five for the Hurricanes.

Wheeling 51, Jacobs 37: At Algonquin, Glenita Williams was the only Jacobs player in double figures and scored a team-high 12 points for the Golden Eagles in the nonconference loss. Carly Sidor added nine points.

Stoughton (Wis.) 68, Woodstock North 41: At Woodstock, Haley Ahr scored a team-high 12 points for the Thunder, and Jenifer Crain added nine in the nonconference loss.

Burlington Central 47, Hampshire 36: At Hampshire, Sara Finn scored a team-high 11 points for the Whip-Purs in their nonconference loss.

North Boone 62, Marengo 29: At Poplar Grove, Kassidy Grimscheid led the Indians with seven points in their Big Northern Conference East Division loss.


J-Hawk Invitational: At Cherry Bowl in Rockford, Marengo placed eighth in the 15-team field with 4,690 pins. Woodstock co-op took 15th with 3,686.

Dominique Bailey led Marengo with a 591 series and teammate Megan Hanelt added a 587 series. Rachel Baumann had a 566 series.
