Cary Park District plans winter break activities

CARY – The Cary Park District has planned a set of activities for youngsters for days they are on winter vacation from school.

The district will have a sledding event Dec. 23 at Lions Park.

On Dec. 26, the park district will take youngsters ice skating at the Crystal Ice House in Crystal Lake.

A bowling and laser tag outing at the Brunswick Zone in Algonquin is planned for Dec. 27.

The park district has scheduled a New Year’s pizza party Dec. 30 at its community center.

A roller skating event is planned for Jan. 2 at Xtreme Wheels in Crystal Lake.

The park district will have a Marshmallow Madness event Jan. 3 at the community center.

The cost for the Dec. 23, Dec. 30 and Jan. 3 activities is $35 for the first child and $30 for each additional child in the family. The Dec. 26, Dec. 27 and Jan. 2 events cost $39 for the first child and $35 for each additional child in the family.

For all events, except the pizza party on Dec. 30, children will have to bring a sack lunch and a drink, the park district said in a news release.

The cost of the events includes supervision from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., other activities – such as sports and arts and crafts – during each day at the community center, admission costs to the various locations and transportation to events outside of the community center, said Director of Communications and Marketing Katie Hughes.

Hughes said the maximum number of spots for each day is 26 to 30.
