To the Editor:
On Thanksgiving, we set our first table without our Marine.
We gave thanks for our families, the ones still here, the ones lost too soon, the ones not related by blood who became families by bond the day our son put on a uniform. We band together, share our hopes and fears, support our men and women in military service, and with nerves of steel we never knew we had. We are the moms of our service men and women.
There is no greater family, no greater bond, than that of these mothers, these wives, these fathers, these sisters and brothers.
“My son has many brothers, therefore, I have many sons” is our creed.
We give thanks to them all and to each other. If you know one or meet one, please don’t compare. Don’t judge, and don’t despair. You have no idea. There is no way you could! A smile and a thought is all we ask. Don’t worry yourself! Our boys and girls have your backs.
