Elgin man charged in Cary robbery

CARY – An Elgin man has been charged with robbing a Subway restaurant, Cary police said in a news release.

Rodney W. Boyette, 50, went into the Cary Subway on Nov. 5 and indicated he had a weapon, the police department said.

He then left the store after the cashier gave him an undisclosed amount of money.

Police later interviewed Boyette after he was charged with a robbery at a Subway in Carpentersville.

Boyette was charged with one count of aggravated robbery in the Cary case. The police department obtained a warrant for his arrest Friday, according to the news release.

His bond was set at $60,000, and he is being held at the Kane County Adult Justice Center, the news release said.
