FOX RIVER GROVE – The western warming building at the expanded Fox River Grove Metra station is set to open Wednesday, the village said in a news release.
There was a delay in the opening because fire and smoke detectors needed to be completed, installed and working properly, and some locks had to be changed, said Village Administrator Karl Warwick.
The construction of the second warming station includes space for a vendor, a waiting area and bathrooms and was part of Metra's $3.5 million platform expansion.
Beginning Thursday, the western building will be open from 4:40 a.m. to 7:20 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 6 a.m. to 7:20 p.m. on weekends.
The eastern building is open from 4:40 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday, and from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends.
