Don’t be fooled

To the Editor:

Huntley Park District will be asking voters in March to approve a referendum giving them $18.75 million to build a new indoor turf facility. And they are saying, if passed, taxpayers will not see an increase on their current property tax bill. But what about future tax bills?

What are some other things we taxpayers have been told? What about the 66 percent income tax increase that is “only temporary.” Yeah, that’s a good one. If you remember, Illinois pulls this temporary stuff about every 10 to 15 years.

What about, “If you like your insurance policy, you’ll get to keep it.” Or, “If you like your doctors, no problem.”

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. I think it was Abe Lincoln who said something about fooling people some of the time. Don’t be fooled. Remember, stupid is what stupid does. I’m voting “no” on this referendum.
