Letters to the Editor

A Washington reincarnation

To the Editor:

The U.S. was created by Christians seeking a land that truly had freedom of religion.

These Christians were Englishmen fed up with the restrictions placed on their activities. They left their homes and migrated to Denmark. They found the Danes were too decadent and moved on to the New World, America. These Pilgrims were almost like the biblical Israelites searching for the promised land. Their first year in America was very costly. They lost almost 50 percent of their members to illness and hardship.

They had to fight Indians, build and staff forts, and develop farms, ranches, churches, schools, towns and cities. Before the Constitution was signed and ratified, a costly eight-year Revolutionary War had to be fought and won. Our government of the people, by the people and for the people was very costly, but it had determination and faith in God. It was led by a great Christian – George Washington – who spent one hour each night on his knees in prayer.

This is possibly America’s most critical time in history. Not because of the multitrillion-dollar debt. Not because of the lingering recession. But because of the destructive president we have elected – Barack Obama.

Washington literally led his troops in battle. He never was wounded in the eight-year war, although four of the white horses he rode were killed by gunfire. This makes it obvious that God was on our side.

Please, God, send us a reincarnation of George Washington.
