Thanks for support

To the Editor:

It seems we don’t say thank you enough, but the Thanksgiving season reminds us of all the people and events we are thankful for. As members of the McHenry Lions Club, we are thankful to the many people who contributed to our Candy Day held in October.

Without your help, we would not have been able to provide eye exams and eyeglasses and hearing aides to needy people in the McHenry area. Lion President David Dicker, as Candy Day chairman, extends a big thank you to all those who helped make this event a big success.

Lion Curtis Bremer is in charge of the canisters you see in many businesses throughout McHenry. These are ongoing; you will see them all year long. We thank the businesses that participate in this worthwhile endeavor.

We also would like to thank all of the people who contribute food and cash for our two yearly collections to benefit FISH, the food pantry. Some people remember when they were having a hard time and received help from the food pantry, and are happy to help now that they are on a firmer footing.

We are constantly seeking new members for the McHenry Lions Club, so if you are interested in being a member, you would be welcome at our meetings. We meet at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of every month at the Village Squire in McHenry. Why don’t you stop in and see what we are all about? We’ll be looking for you! Anyone 18 and over is eligible.

Lion Judy Bierman

Secretary, McHenry Lions Club
