Wounded Chicago-area officer still hospitalized

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS – A suburban Chicago police officer remains hospitalized after being shot in the face while responding to a reported hostage situation.

It was reported that 52-year-old Arlington Heights police officer Michael McEvoy was in critical-but-stable condition at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Police have said McEvoy is expected to make a full recovery from the wounds he sustained last Thursday when authorities say he was shot by Eric Anderson of Niles.

Police said 41-year-old Anderson had been stalking an ex-girlfriend and had taken her hostage before he was shot and killed several hours later by police after he pointed a gun at officers.
