$19M in road, bridge work planned for Cook County

SPRINGFIELD — Road and bridge improvements totaling $18.6 million are planned for several Cook County communities.

Gov. Pat Quinn announced the seven projects Thursday.

They include a $2.3 million project to improve U.S. 20 in Bartlett and Streamwood; bridge and pavement repair for $570,000 on the Interstate 57 bridge over the Cal-Sag Channel in Blue Island; and installation of LED traffic signals at various Cook County locations for $2.5 million.

Additional traffic lanes will be added to 75th Street in Darien for $12.7 million and include a guardrail, bike path and landscaping.

Other projects include modernizing traffic signals in Northlake, replairing a Des Plaines (DESS' PLANEZ) River bridge in River Grove and resurfacing a street in Thornton.
