WOODSTOCK – Individuals can get their cholesterol checked by the McHenry County Department of Health next month.

The screening will be from 7 to 9 a.m. Jan. 15 at the department’s Woodstock office, 2200 N. Seminary Ave. (Building A).

The screening costs $35 and requires a 12-hour fast. It checks total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, triglycerides and blood pressure. Organizers also will provide cardiovascular education.

High cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes put people at greater risk for heart disease, according to the health department.
