Fire in Wauconda leaves $100K in damage

WAUCONDA – A fire Saturday morning caused about $100,000 in damage to two houses, the Wauconda Fire District said in a news release.

Firefighters were called at 2:33 a.m. to 28344 West Park Ave., Wauconda, and found a vacant house, fully engulfed in flames, that had collapsed, according to the fire district.

The fire also spread to a neighboring house, and left minor damage to it, the news release said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, the fire district said.

Firefighters from Grayslake, Lake Villa, Nunda Rural, Countryside, Lake Zurich, Fox Lake, McHenry Township, Fox River Grove, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills and Wonder Lake assisted in the call.
