Marengo-Union Library hosts movies, programs in January

MARENGO – The Marengo-Union Library recently announced a slate of movie nights and educational programs for January.

Residents can sit down with friends and some popcorn at 2 p.m. Jan. 4 inside the library, 200 S. State St., Marengo, to watch “White House Down,” a 2013 action thriller starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.

The library’s book club will meet at 1 p.m. Jan. 11 to discuss “The Language of Flowers” by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. The book focuses on a young woman raised in foster care who uses the Victorian language of flowers to communicate with others. The club welcomes interested adult readers.

People of all ages can watch the animated feature “Despicable Me 2” at 6 p.m. Jan. 17. Nature enthusiasts can learn about hawks from the McHenry Wildlife Resource Center at 11 a.m. Jan. 18. Registration is required for both events.
